Memory increase associated with program speed and multi tasking? I use my computer for Internet surfing, Picture Editing, Video Editing, listening to music, and stuff like that. Maybe the sims 2 now and then. Right now, I have 256 MB of RAM, I recently purchased and will upgrade to 1 GB of Ram. It is two 512 Sticks. My main question is: Will Gimp, iTunes, and multi-tasking work smoother. What about the Sims 2?

With the iOS 4, will the 2nd Generation iPod Touch have multi-tasking? OK, I know that the iPod Touch 2nd Generation and 3rd Generation will be able to upgrade to the iOS 4, and that some features will not be available on the 2nd Generation. What is the most silly thing you have done when multi-tasking? You know the kind of thing, you're thinking about that meeting at work, the letter you need to write to your Mum, whether or not little Johnny can go skiing with the school; whilst preparing breakfast for 4 and putting on a load of washing. Suddenly it dawns on you that a bowl of cornflakes is on a delicates wash with a turbo spin cycle! My own silliest such event? I put a plastic carton of milk in the oven instead of the fridge and melted, baked, fried and exploded it all over the oven, within half an hour while our lovely lasagne sat stone cold in the fridge. I also once left a note for the milkman in my shoes, on the doorstep, I left the empty milk bottles besides my clothes for the next day!
Is there a difference between multi-tasking and running around like a headless chook? I only ask because, while building our house, one party here has the ability to discuss 500 different things that we are not immediately working on in ten seconds, giving the other a profound headache. (This question is being posed by Igor, my depraved, twisted, twin brother who we normally keep in the cellar (not the glass one) - the views are not those of the account holder).
What are some of your good multi-tasking hints? Right now I am balancing watching the news, playing on the computer, and chowing down dinner while keeping the cat equalizer (the spray water bottle) at the ready. Daisy thinks she needs to join me. Not!!
Weird ability or just good at multi tasking? I can concentrate on one thing like reading the paper (and remember what I was reading) and still track things going on around me, like cars license plates, people etc. It isn't like peripheral vision. It is like I am getting picture in picture in my mind. Or I can be studying and listen to multiple conversations around me and be able to remember what I was studying and keep up with the conversations. I am not hyper and I don't have ADD or anything, and no I am not on drugs. Anybody ever heard of or experience this before?
Ramadan: How good are you at multi-tasking? I've always wondered exactly how well women are at multitasking. I absolutely love the fact that I can multitask well, but I've seen some women who are unbelievably good at it. How good are you at it? How many things can you manage at the same time? What has been your best 'multitasked task? (I don't even know if that would make any sense to you)
Is it possible that ADHD is actually an evolutionary improvement allowing for multi tasking? I am not saying that everyone with ADHD is somehow better at this point but could be a step in a larger process of evolution. Also some of our beliefs about hyperactivity and ADHD are possibly social constructs without true merits. What we currently see as an inability to focus could be as a result of our culture trying to counteract how ADHD people function. If we however tried to work with them and thier ADHD maybe they could more productive than the "average" person. Most of the greatest genius of the western world were seen at one time to below average when compared to thier peers. All I am suggesting is that this situation is of a similiar ilk.

So that I can work multi-task or used as a extension of my other application.

What is all the fuss about multi-tasking? I've never understood all the hype about multi-tasking this is something I've always done and it's no big deal,I have always got three or four things bubbling along happily at the same time, there's no big mystery.I think that the women out there only think it's a big deal because THEY find it so hard.....lol

Is multi-tasking a good or bad habit? Nowadays, if you can multi-task, it means you're more productive. Your employer will like you, and they can dump more work on you blah blah blah. You multi-task at work and get the jobs done, great. Your boss is happy and so is your pocket. However, I think multi-tasking is a bad habit to some extent because the more you multi-task, the more it becomes a habit, and you eventually will lose the ability to concentrate and focus. You will end up multi-tasking in your personal life and end up can't get anything done then we complain to people why we can't do/get this and that. A habit can be good and very evil. To get what we desire, concentration is vital. What do you think in your opinion?
Multi-tasking? It is an utterly stupid idea that women are better at multi-tasking and has no basis in reality whatsoever. Prove me wrong. Many studies assert that people show severe interference when even very simple tasks are performed simultaneously if both tasks require selecting and producing action (e.g., Gladstones, Regan, & Lee, 1989; Pashler, 1994). “It usually involves skimming the surface of the incoming data, picking out the relevant details, and moving on to the next stream. You’re paying attention, but only partially. That lets you cast a wider net, but it also runs the risk of keeping you from really studying the fish." This is a cognitive ability exclusive to no one! And there is nothing to suggest that gender (or anything else for that matter) correlates with an increased efficiency when adopting this mode of processing. I say "prove me wrong" purely to incite passion - to urge those with the opposing opinion to produce a scrap of data in their favour. It never happens. The (psychological) concept is derived from computer multi-tasking, and before the 1990s it had not even been conceived of.
